Veil

PIN, password and passphrase

With these three things you can control how the application protects your picture.
The PIN and password are stored in your phone in a encrypted form, instead the passphrase is never stored on your phone unless you you've choose not to use it.
The simplest level which, however, corresponds to the less secure one, is leave PIN number, password and passphrase fields empty and simply press DONE.
On the other hands, the less easy to use but the more secure mode is fill all the three fields.
Once you make the fist access, the veil app will require you only the PIN and passphrase, instead the password will be recovered automatically from the phone local storage.

What happens to the image

The Veil application change the image making it unreadable, the algorithm that encrypts the image is fully conditioned by PIN, password and passphrase.
The image is rendered anonymous by removing the references to the places and time of when it was taken, the image is always saved in PNG format, this makes it generally always bigger than the original size.

Specific platform versions behaviors

Due of changes introduced with the Android 4.4 (KitKat), the Veil application can only write within the application folder, both on memory and internal SD card.
So the picture can be read from the gallery media folder, but not saved on it.
